International day of women and girls in science

International Day of Women and Girls in Science, 11 February
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated annually on 11 February. The day highlights the important contributions of women in science and underscores that gender equality and scientific progress must advance hand in hand to address global challenges.
Despite progress, women remain underrepresented in research worldwide. Greater participation is essential to ensure that innovation and scientific development are inclusive, ethical, and responsive to society’s needs.
At Epax, science is at the core of everything we do. From advancing Omega-3 research to developing high-quality, evidence-based solutions, our work depends on expertise, curiosity, and collaboration. We are proud of the talented women across our organisation, including our scientific team in Ålesund, who contribute every day to strengthening our research and driving innovation forward.
In connection with the day, we are proud to introduce some of the talented women who lead research and innovation at Epax:
R&D Manager
- “Working on the development of new, health-promoting fatty acid products from fish oil is both inspiring and rewarding. Marine fatty acids are well known for their health benefits, and at Epax we are leading the way in research on new marine-based fatty acids.”
Fun fact: I'm a dedicated year-round swimmer, taking a weekly swim in the sea by the factory🌊❄️

R&D Engineer,
“ I love that no two days are the same and that our work constantly challenges our creativity as we solve different tasks and problems.”
Fun fact: “I like that I have slightly nerdy colleagues — it makes the job extra fun!” 😄
R & D Process Engineer
“The best part of working with science at EPAX is being able to stay curious, challenge myself, and work alongside highly skilled colleagues. As a woman in R&D, I feel there is real room to grow, contribute, and develop.”
R&D Scientist
“Working in research lets me follow my curiosity. Each day is different, and I get to work on diverse challenges while learning something new”
Fun fact about Marianne:
She is a BIG Star wars fan 🦹

R&D Analytical Specialist
“With a background in analytical chemistry, I enjoy working at the interface between the laboratory and production. Using real-time measurements in the factory allows me to apply my expertise to ensure the highest possible product quality.”
Funfact: Standard-size safety helmets and goggles are often so big they almost slide off – I might need to order them in a children’s size 😄🦺👓
