Ecovision

Made responsibly — from start to finish

EcoVision is personal to us — because trust matters. It’s our approach to responsible production: using resources well, creating less waste, supporting safe and fair workplaces, and being open about how we do business. EcoVision has guided our work since 2010 — and it continues to do so today.

Sustainability — less waste, more value

Our goal is simple: use resources better, and create less waste. In 2024 we reached 97% circularity for biomaterials — a level we’re proud of and committed to maintaining. We keep focusing on upcycling, so more of the raw material becomes something useful.

Traceable — from source to finished ingredient

We work with documented supply chains and clear supplier requirements, so we know what we’re working with. Every batch is tracked through our process — helping ensure consistent quality and responsible practices.

Accountability you can verify

We are third-party verified through well-recognised standards — because trust should be measurable. External audits help ensure responsible sourcing, transparent systems, and consistent quality.

Sustainability

Upcycling

We increase our use of food-grade oils made from offcuts — helping reduce food waste. By turning these resources into human nutrition, more is used for people rather than biofuel or feed.

Certified sustainable

Did you know we helped bring Friend of the Sea certification to crude oil sites in Peru more than 15 years ago? Today, we continue this legacy by requiring third-party sustainability verification from all suppliers — new and existing.

Diversified

In 2024, we further diversified our sourcing to reduce pressure on the Peruvian fishery and support sustainable development in new regions — while ensuring a stable, predictable supply.

How we keep standards high

Smart purification

We use advanced distillation designed to concentrate fatty acids without excessive heat and without harsh solvents.

Continuous testing

We monitor for a broad set of impurities and keep quality control built into the process.

Audited and accountable

We run supplier, internal and external audits – and publish due diligence reporting as required.

Energy and climate

Powered by renewable energy

100% of the energy used in production comes from renewable hydropower. In simple terms: we run our production on clean electricity, not fossil energy.

Using less fresh water

Cooling is part of the process. A seawater cooling system helps keep freshwater use low, and has reduced freshwater consumption by about 60% on average in recent years.

Using energy smarter

We keep energy use down by upgrading equipment and choosing energy-saving solutions. We also reuse residual heat from production to warm our offices.

People and positive impact

Safe workplace

We put safety first — with clear routines, training, and regular follow-up. We continuously assess risks and improve how we work to keep people safe.

Local ripple effects

According to DNB Ringvirkninger, Epax contributes NOK 82.8 million to Norwegian society each year — through local suppliers, jobs and taxes.

Fair and transparent

We set clear expectations for fair treatment and follow up transparently. Our due diligence supports human rights and good working conditions across our partners.

Epax®

We focus on the following five SDGs:

Epax® has identified five Sustainable Development Goals—clean water and sanitation, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption and production, climate action, and life below water—as the core of our ESG strategy.

Clean water and sanitation

Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. We align with this goal by progressively reducing the use of potable water for processing crude oil at our factory.

Decent work and
economic growth

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. We contribute to this goal by providing employment opportunities and supporting the local communities we operate in.

Responsible consumption
and production

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. We focus on this goal by ensuring our ingredients are sustainably sourced and produced.

Climate action

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. We are addressing this goal by reducing our energy consumption and carbon footprint.

Life below water

Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development. We are helping to protect marine biodiversity and promote sustainable fishing practices by sourcing our Omega-3 ingredients only from certified sustainable fisheries.
