At EPAX AS, we hold ourselves accountable to practices that help maintain healthy oceans and healthy neighborhoods. This concern helps shape our daily manufacturing and business activities because our actions directly impact the well-being of the communities where we live and do business.

Zero Waste

At EPAX AS, we make use of 100% of our raw material — the crude fish oil — so that nothing is wasted. Starting with the highest quality raw material we gently refine, purify and concentrate the oil. Any oil that is not used for EPAX concentrates during this process consists of marine fats with no nutritional value, and is used for biofuel and fertilizer products.

Eco-Friendly Manufacturing

Our state-of-the-art processing facility is located at the top of the pristine fjords in Aalesund, Norway. Surrounded by local residents, we work hard to minimize our impact on our surroundings. It's not surprising that operating in such a beautiful environment has fueled our passion for making all our manufacturing processes environmentally friendly, including:

  • ISO 14001 (certification of environmental safety management system)
  • EHS (environmental health and safety engineering)
  • Eco-heating (waste energy from our manufacturing plant to heat our corporate offices)
  • Recycling and reuse of solid waste
  • Zero waste (we use 100% of the fish crude oil) and full supply accounting
  • REACH compliance (under the EU 1907/2006 directive)
  • State-of-the-art processing plant
  • Systems for reduced energy use and environmentally-friendly processing

Eco-friendly Finished Materials

When you purchase EPAX raw materials for your products, you are choosing to support sustainable ecological practices.

  • The raw material for our EPAX Omega-3 concentrates is sourced through Austral Group SAA in Peru.

The OmegaHouse

Our EPAX AS corporate headquarters, named the OmegaHus (OmegaHouse), is a shining example of our commitment to environmental sustainability. This modern, Nordic-inspired structure was constructed using only natural materials and is as stunning as it is environmentally friendly.

The OmegaHouse was designed for low energy consumption and is heated solely through "waste heat" from our neighboring processing facility. The open floor plan encourages employees to collaborate on projects. Employees are also expected to accept personal responsibility to work safely, adhere to work procedures, and maintain their health and well-being. Not surprisingly, EPAX sponsors wellness campaigns to motivate our employees to improve their health. In addition to encouraging fitness, EPAX also encourages employees to use low impact transportation to and from the workplace.
